Fall 2023 Recap | Part 1

College & Support Programs Panels: The program held three panels this semester to introduce participants to different colleges, their academic programs, and campus opportunities, as well as support programs that provide financial assistance, academic advising, and/or professional development.

10/7: Binghamton University, Macaulay Honors College, New York University, Syracuse University

11/4:Fordham University, Lafayette College, SUNY Oswego, and Simon STEM Scholars Program @ Stony Brook University            

12/2: Baruch College SEEK Program, College of Mount Saint Vincent, and Kessler Presidential Scholarship Program @ Queens College

Internship & College Experience Panels

Marlen Fernandez Herrera and her peer counselors, from the Baruch College Starr Development Center, provided juniors and seniors with guidance for transitioning to college, creating a Linkedin profile, the importance of internship preparation and developing networking skills. The panel suggested that our students proactively seeking internships early on in college and leverage resources such as career service offices on campus and online platforms. It was stressed that everyone should remain professional in all correspondence with human resource and internship coordinators.

Jennifer Avila an Erykah Gonzalez, program assistants shared their experiences as undergraduate students- daily life, changing majors, joining student organizations, and working. They also shared how their high school years impacted their college experience.
